That plot confuse you? Then you’re in trouble, because that’s just the tip of the iceberg for where this episode ultimately goes.

From the amazingly shocking and brief cold open this episode just kicked things into high gear, as Rick and Morty were brought into the high government of all dimensions by other Rick and Mortys to stand trial for the death of over two dozen alternate dimension Ricks. And as “Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind” proves, that is indeed the case.īecause, once again, “Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind” is this show just firing on all of its cylinders. Due to how much I loved that episode, I decided to start reviewing the show for Geek Binge, hoping that “Love Potion #9” wouldn’t be the last we’ve seen of crazy brilliant Rick and Morty. Just the pure craziness of the episode was something to behold, and the way the plot spirals just completely out of control to the point that the show (and its characters) say “Fuck it, new dimension” is all kinds of amazing. Trust me, it will wrap around to talk of this week’s episode eventually!īut, as for “Love Potion #9,” it’s easily my favorite episode that Rick and Morty has ever done. So because I wasn’t around to talk about it, let me briefly share my impressions on that episode. No, the last actual Rick/Morty storyline in my mind was back in Episode 6, “Love Potion #9,” an episode that aired so long ago that I wasn’t even reviewing the show at the time.

I mean yes, technically the pair shared a storyline in “Rixty Minutes” but, honestly, since it was just them sitting on a coach and having a back and forth about the weird TV they were watching, I don’t really count it.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s great-I’m glad that Rick and Morty isn’t the type of show that will cost on its two main characters, and is willing to branch out with other interesting pairings (such as last week’s episode with the Rick/Summer story and Jerry/Morty b-plot), but, I mean, the show is still called Rick and Morty: they are the most dependable of character pairings and, with the episode breaks and what not, it has been quite a while since we’ve seen the two in a full plot together. To see how the final two episodes play out, Season 5 of Rick and Morty concludes September 5 on Adult Swim.Even though it’s only been three episodes, it feels like forever since we’ve had a proper Rick and Morty storyline. No guest stars have been announced for the Season 5 finale as of yet. RELATED: Rick And Morty's Warped Take On Inception Revives Rick's Most Hated Ĭo-creator Justin Roiland will be playing both Rick and Morty as always, and while other characters haven't been shown in the promo, it seems safe to assume Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith, Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith and Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith will be back in their recurring roles.
But if it's the latter, it's likely that "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" will be the official conclusion to Season 5's story and character arcs, whereas "Rickmurai Jack" will be "something new," possibly an anime or Samurai Jack homage. It's unclear whether "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" and "Rickmurai Jack" tell a continuous two-part story or if they're separate stories. How Morty responds to his replacement could end up proving the fan theories that Season 5 has been an Evil Morty origin story.
The commercials for the season finale seem to only include scenes from "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall," in which Rick gets frustrated with Morty messing with his portal fluid and, spinning a wheel of "Better things than Morty," officially replaces his sidekick with Two Crows, providing some context for the Zap2It description. The Zap2It descriptions have a jokier tone and strenuously avoid any spoilers - its description for "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" reads " Two Crows, broh these guys are mad smart," while its description for "Rickmurai Jack" reads " Tryin something new, broh Doin' it big." All 4, in contrast, gives more straightforward plot summaries - its description of "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" is "Rick gets new sidekicks, while Morty makes a new friend," and its description of "Rickmurai Jack" is "Rick is living his best anime life, making new friends and taking down new enemies." Zap2It and All 4 offer different plot descriptions for the two back-to-back episodes concluding Rick and Morty Season 5.
